When I found out about the spooky place, I grabbed my camera and took a drive up. I found myself in a woodland area and a deserted road. Like most old-fashioned lunatic asylums, this one opened in 1902 to be then shut down in 2000.

Its was run on an industrial scale, having its own small narrow-gauge railway when it first opened. Most of the staff live and worked on the site. With shops, cleaners and boiler rooms to dispose of the medical waste.

There was a plan after it closed down to convert the buildings into luxury flats, however with the financial crises there was no money to put into the site and it still stands there empty apart from the odd dog walker.

Kinda scared to know what these chains were used for ekk!

This Building was used to clean Gardner's, well that's what it said on the sign lol

I guess this used to be an examining chair?

These were some of the local shop and cleaners.

This is where all the West Lothian wast bins were kept.
